What to wear in mid-life?
So, your weight is fluctuating all over the place and nothing fits? Yep, that sounds like perimenopause and it’s enough to make you give up on going ANYWHERE because NOTHING fits or looks good.
I hear you and I compiled this list of clothing labels to help you update your wardrobe and feel good about yourself during this madness.
The list largely comprises elasticised waist bands but don’t be put off because I’m not sending you to Rockmans or Millers yet! I wanted to find clothes that still look great but have the added bonus of being comfortable regardless of where your weight has decided to wander that day. I’ve also included primarily natural fibres as my body can’t tolerate synthetics anymore, not just from a hot flash point of view but from a holy-sweet-mother-of-stink, is-that-smell-me point of view.
I would love to hear your suggestions too so please comment below so we can help each other!

1. Boom Shankar
I absolutely love Boom Shankar clothing and own far too many items! They are high quality pieces, beautifully made and beautiful fabric, soooo comfortable and I feel like a funky chicken in everything I put on.
I personally LOVE the Guru Pants and Guru Skirt, which they are well-known for, and I have each in a variety of colours, as well as a few other pairs of pants.
Check them out here.
2. Dharma Bums
This is such a beautiful label with luxurious feeling pieces that are ridiculously comfortable and look great for everything from lounging around at home to school pickups or dashing to the shop, and if you are lucky enough, a jaunty flight over the pacific.

I have jumpers, pants and even a few dresses from this label. The Essential Maxi Dress is a killer dress, and I have just noticed they have added new colours, so if you’ll just excuse me for a sec…

I have only ever bought a few tops from this brand, but I have loved them all and trust them on those hot flash days when my deodorant is struggling.
I have the tank top in pretty much every colour and the quality is great.

4. Boody
I have bought some Boody crop bras over the years and honestly, I’ve not loved all of them, but I am so fussy with bras and am forever on the hunt for a bra you can’t feel even a little bit but that does something positive in the boob department, aka the unicorn bra. So, for this reason don’t judge Boody bras and undies by my silly standards.

What I have bought from Boody and absolutely love is this romper. I honestly live in it whenever I can and have been known to stand by the washing machine watching it spin round and round, then checking on it while it dries, and then throwing it straight back on the moment it dries. My kid does a similar thing with his cuddly, so that’s fun when they are both in the wash at the same time – we really bond.
I also have the long jumpsuit which I do love but it sits a bit low in the crotch on me, but they have loads of videos of women of all shapes and sizes wearing it on their website.

5. Sinerji
I was lucky enough to stumble across this lovely label here on the Sunshine Coast, QLD and I have quite a few things from them now. I love the quirky prints and pairing the quirk with something more sedate. The clothing is fair trade and high quality.
I bought this fun little tank top because I think the artwork is absolutely inspired. I can feel magpie season in my bones when I look at it!

This shop is based in Maleny, QLD and it is such a beautiful shop. It looks and smells divine. It’s packed with Indian textiles, beautiful clothes, yarn, bedding and more.
I can only visit there every now and then because I kid you not, every time I go, I skip out of their shop with one of their gorgeous designs neatly folded in one of their lovely little handmade paper bags.
They only have a small selection of clothing on their website, so if you are ever in the area, be sure to pop in and check them out.

7. Bamboo Body
Similar to Bamboo Village, I have bought a few tanks and some basic, comfy pants and leggings. All the clothes are extremely high quality and comfortable. Bamboo is such a great fibre and I have switched to bamboo in so many areas, from underwear to my bed sheets.

I haven’t bought anything from this label yet, but I have quite a few things in my shopping cart for the day I have some spare $$. The quality looks amazing.
I’ll let you know if I take the plunge, but I had to include them as I am constantly drawn back to their website.
